We shall be doing some more hedgelaying at this site that we first visited last year. Grid Ref: 849 607
February 4th Braywick Nature Centre, Maidenhead
Trees were planted on the raised landfill about 15 years ago. Now it is time to selectively thin the trees to give those that remain space to grow to be a mature and diverse woodland. We will clear one area to create a glade, which will be used as a study area for Braywick Nature Centre.

February 18th Waltham St Lawrence
We will be planting trees at the far end of the allotments. This is the task that was cancelled last November because the supplier’s land was too waterlogged to dig up the trees. Grid Ref: 831 766

We shall be continuing the work started on January 7th when we cleared ash and brambles at the BBOWT nature reserve to increase the meadow area.Grid Ref: 905 787

April 1st Dinton Pastures Country Park
Cancelled. But instead we’ve arranged a small task clearing the azolla weed that is covering Shurlock Row pond (grid ref: 833 747). If as expected we finish around lunchtime we’ll follow this with a visit to the pub opposite.
This would have been the first time that we’ve worked at Dinton Pastures. We shall be constructing a plank and gravel footpath.

Another new site to us. We shall be doing footpath work and generally tidying up the spinney.

This task will be spent increasing the amount of heather on the heathland by turf stripping. We’ll be able to see how well the areas that we stripped in the last two years are growing.

We will probably be doing some revetment work around one of the lakes, but the postponement of the spring task here may cause a change.

August 19th Larks Hill, North Bracknell
We are returning to this site after a few years to do some hay making, raking, and possibly some ragwort pulling around the orchard. We helped to plant this orchard a few years ago.

September 30th Englemere Pond, near Ascot
Englemere Pond has on of the few phragmites reed beds in East Berkshire. We will be removing encroaching willow from the pond margins. Grid Ref: 902 684

November 11th Shurlock Row, near Twyford
We visited Shurlock Row pond at the height of the Foot and Mouth crisis to clear azolla weed in place of a cancelled task. Today we are returning to clear excess reed growth and to see how much weed has dared to return. If we finish this early we will go to the allotments at Waltham St Lawrence to weed around the trees that we planted.
